How I Know Robert
Thanks to my family, we run in the same circles! As a moviemaker and Halloween mask collector, I was bound to run into Robert Parigi at some point. I met him briefly at a party several years ago, but when I really got to know him was when he had a brief work collaboration with my significant other. Over the years he’s revealed himself to be not only a fascinating artist, but a charming, kind, and positive-minded man in general.

My Interview with Robert Parigi
What do you do?
I write and direct horror films.
How did you start?
I started as a script reader at New Line Cinema in New York, while I was completing graduate studies in philosophy.
What’s your favourite part of what you do?
I live for those WTF?! moments in writing, on set, or in editing. If an idea occurs that makes even me shudder or double-take, I know it’s good.
What advice do you have for someone who wants to get into doing what you do?
Get whatever job you can find, at the biggest company you can. Sad to say, I think the era of independent companies is over. Look at New Line, where I started out: they’re now owned by Time/Warner.
What’s next for you/your business?
I’m shopping several horror scripts for my next movie. The latest is a strange story about Hollywood, and tumors.
